Anna Simon Named B1G Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Anna Simon has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2022. The honor is the first for Simon this season and the fourth of the year for Penn State.

Simon scored Penn State's first two goals in its title-clinching 3-1 win at No. 21 Rutgers on Friday night. Simon scored her first in the second period, finishing off a penalty corner to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead. She scored her second, and what would be the game-winner, off a Grace Wallis assist midway through the third period.

Simon's two goals helped lift the Lions to the win, their seventh-straight, and a share of the 2022 Big Ten Championship (regular season). She now has 22 points this year off eight goals and six assists. The Nittany Lions end the regular season 15-2 overall record, 7-1 in the conference, and will be the top-seed at the 2022 Big Ten Tournament next weekend at Ohio State. The Lions receive a bye into Friday's semifinals.
