WINTHROP, Mass.- Penn State Nittany Lions Kiara Zanon and Tessa Janecke received College Hockey America Monthly Awards on Tuesday. Zanon captured Forward of the Month honors while Janecke received a Rookie of the Month nod.
During the months of September and October, Zanon recorded five goals on seven assists for 12 points. She tallied three multi-point games including a two-goal and one assist effort against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 24. This is her fourth career monthly award nod and first Forward of the Month honor.
Janecke has started her freshman campaign on a hot streak. During the first two months of the season, she's tallied nine goals and five assists for 14 points. She currently leads the CHA in goals (9), points (14), power play goals (2), short-handed goals (2), and face-off winning percentage (56.8%). The Orangeville, Ill. native has recorded four multi-point games including two multi-goal games coming against Wisconsin and Lindenwood.
Mae Batherson of Syracuse was named Defensive Player of the Month while Jada Brenon was named Goaltender of the Month to wrap up the monthly awards.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, Nov. 4 when they host Mercyhurst. Puck-drop is set for 3 p.m.
