Gough Goal Propels No. 11 Women's Ice Hockey to 4-2 Victory Over Brown

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- A last minute goal by Julie Gough propelled the No. 11 Penn State women's ice hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Brown on Monday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Nittany Lions opened the game with a pair of goals first on the power-play from Julie Gough off feeds from Kiara Zanon and Tessa Janecke to put Penn State ahead 1-0 with 7:53 remaining.
  • In the closing seconds of the period, Olivia Wallin found the open hole off assists by Courtney Correia and Eleri MacKay to put the Nittany Lions ahead 2-0.
  • After a scoreless second period, Brown would tack on two goals in the third period, first from Jade Iginla with 18:50 remaining in the period.
  • With 3:22 left in the game, India McDadi would even the game at 2-2 off assists by Jade Iginla and Cassidy Piersiak.
  • The Nittany Lions came back with 1:09 remaining in the third period as Gough tacked on her second goal of the game. Kendall Butze fired a pass in front of the goalie and Gough slid the puck in to give Penn State a 3-2 lead.
  • Kiara Zanon sealed the game with an empty-net goal with 15 seconds remaining to secure the 4-2 victory

 
GOALTENDING

  • Goalie Josie Bothun picked up her ninth with of the season as she tallied 18 saves on the day.

 
GAME NOTES AND STATS

  • This is Julie Gough's first multi-goal game of the season.
  • Kiara Zanon tallied her second three-point game of the year with one goal and two assists.
  • Kendall Butze is now tied for second on the team in assists with 10 after a two-assist showing.
  • The Nittany Lions have now won seven of their last eight games.
