#11/11 Women's Ice Hockey Falls to #6/6 Yale 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The No. 11/11 Penn State women's ice hockey team dropped the series opener against No. 6/6 Yale 3-0 on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • With less than six minutes into the first period, Yale jumped onto the scoreboard first with a goal by Anna Bargman 14:47 into the game.
  • Four minutes later, the Bulldogs added onto their lead with a power-play goal by Claire Dalton to put Yale ahead 2-0.
  • In the second period, Yale would score with 20 seconds remaining in the frame off a goal by Vita Poniatovskaia to secure the 3-0 shutout. 

GOALTENDERS

  • Junior Josie Bothun stopped 29 shots on 32 attempted. She reached the 1500 career save mark in the second period which places her fourth in program history.

STATS AND NOTES

  • Yale outshot the Nittany Lions 32-29.
  • Josie Bothun surpassed 1500 saves in her career placing her fourth all-time in program history.
  • Julie Gough led all Nittany Lions in shots with five.
  • This is just the second time this season the Nittany Lions have been shutout.
