UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State women's soccer student-athletes Penelope Hocking, Ally Schlegel and Mieke Schiemann earned All-North Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday.
Senior+ Hocking and redshirt senior Schlegel were named to the first-team All-North region while sophomore Schiemann was added to the third-team All-North region.
A fifth-year transfer from USC, Hocking collects her fifth regional honor and fourth first-team regional honor of her career.
With the Trojans, Hocking earned first-team All-Pacific Region three times and second-team designation her freshman year. Playing her final collegiate season with the Nittany Lions, the Anaheim, Calif. native was named to the first-team All-North Region after finishing second on the team with 25 points on seven goals and 11 assists.
Schlegel earns her fourth consecutive All-North Region honor. She earned first-team recognition in both 2019 and spring 2021, and in fall 2021 picked up second-team recognition. Hailing from Parker, Colo., Schlegel led the team with 28 points on 13 goals and three assists. Her 13 goals were the most in the Big Ten.
Collecting her first career regional honor is Berlin, Germany native Schiemann who started all 23 games during her sophomore campaign. She finished with three goals and six assists for 12 points this season.
This season also saw all three student-athletes earn All-B1G honors with Schlegel earning first-team, Hocking second-team and Schiemann third-team designation.
Penn State has now collected 76 first team All-Region honors in its 28-year program history.
The Nittany Lions finished the season 15-5-3 and appeared in the NCAA Third Round for the sixth consecutive season. Penn State also won the program's ninth Big Ten Tournament title.
