WINTHROP, Mass.- Josie Bothun and Kendall Butze of the Penn State women's ice hockey team captured College Hockey America weekly awards as announced the league on Monday. Butze was named Rookie of the Week while Bothun earned a Goaltender of the Week nod.
This is Butze's first weekly award of her career as she tallied three assists in the series against Mercyhurst. The Cleveland, Ohio native recorded two assists in Friday's 4-1 victory for her first multi-point game of her career. She currently is tied for first on the team in assists with eight on the year.
Bothun secured her second weekly award of the season as she picked up one win while stopping 41 shots and allowing just three goals this week. She currently tallies a record of 7-5-1, a GAA of 2.16 and a save percentage of .919.
Sarah Thompson of Syracuse captured Forward of the Week honors while Hannah Thompson of the Orange was named Defensive Player of the Week to wrap up the weekly awards.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Sunday, Nov. 13 when they host Brown. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
