Penn State to host Quinnipiac in NCAA Tournament First Round

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For the 28th consecutive season, the Penn State women's soccer program is headed to the NCAA National Tournament as the Nittany Lions will host Quinnipiac in the opening round at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 at Jeffrey Field.
 
The Nittany Lions earned the Big Ten's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the conference tournament on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over top seed Michigan State.
 
On Monday, the NCAA Selection Show revealed Penn State as the second seed who will host Quinnipiac, the 2022 MAAC Regular Season and Tournament champions. 
 
The Bobcats are 15-2-1 this season and will face the Nittany Lions for the first time in program history.

The Nittany Lions are 21-3 in first-round matches (PSU received byes from the first round in 1998, 1999 & 2000) and have a 13-match first-round winning streak. 

A five-time College Cup participant (1999, 2002, 2005, 2012 & 2015), Penn State has advanced to the quarterfinals 13 times. In NCAA Tournament action at home, the Nittany Lions have amassed an impressive record of 41-6-1 at Jeffrey Field, outscoring opponents 145-34. 

Two-time National Coach of the Year head coach Erica Dambach has collected 36 NCAA tournament wins and captured the College Cup title in 2015 since taking the helm of the Nittany Lions in 2007.
 
Last season, Penn State advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fifth straight season. 
 
This season, PSU is 13-4-3 and most recently nabbed their ninth B1G Tournament title in program history.
