UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 12/12 Penn State women's ice hockey team returns to College Hockey America play this week as they host Syracuse starting on Saturday, December 3 at 1 p.m. The last CHA matchup came on October 29 when they faced Lindenwood.

HISTORY
- This will be the 36th meeting between Syracuse and Penn State as the Orange have a commanding 30-5 lead in the series. The last time the two teams met came on February 5, 2022 when Penn State fell in overtime 2-1.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse has four players on the team that register double digit points this season.
- Leading the way for the Orange is Sarah Thompson with eight goals and six assists.
- The Orange enter the series with a 7-9-1 overall record and 4-0-0 record in the CHA.
- Syracuse is coming off a pair of wins against Post University on Nov. 25-26 in which they won 10-0 and 6-1 handily.
- In net for the Orange stands Arielle DeSmet who has played and started in 15 games this season and has a record of 5-9-1 and GAA of 2.32.
FRESHMAN MAKE THEIR MARK
- Two freshman tallied goals in the Nittany Lions 3-0 shutout victory over Boston University on Saturday.
- Katelyn Roberts tallied her second career goal of the year while Maddy Christian recorded her first collegiate goal.
- The freshman class this season tallies 38 of the 151 total team points this season. The points feature 15 goals and 23 assists.
CLOSING IN ON 100
- Junior Kiara Zanon tallied a pair of assists against Boston University on Saturday which pushed her to 89 career points.
- If Zanon reaches 100 career points by the end of her junior season, she'd be the fastest Nittany Lion in program history to do so.
ZANON ON THE ASSIST
- Junior Kiara Zanon currently leads the CHA in assists this season with 13 on the year.
- She ranks tied for tenth in the nation in assists .
- This season, Zanon has accumulated 20 points with seven goals and 13 assists .
FACE-OFF MACHINES
- Penn State continues to dominate the face-off circle.
- On the season, Penn State tallies a face-off win percentage of 54.8% which ranks eighth in the nation.
- Leading the charge is freshman Tessa Janecke who sits fourth in the nation as she has won 211 face-offs.
SITTING ON TOP OF THE POLLS
- Penn State has been ranked in the top 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey national polls for 11 of the 12 weeks this year.
- The Nittany Lions stayed in the #12 slot in the USCHO poll.

- Due to the Family Carnival at the Multi-Sport Building and the Nittany Valley Half Marathon, please expect road closures when arriving to Pegula Ice Arena on Sunday, Dec. 4.
