UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The No. 12/12 Penn State women's ice hockey team accomplished the sweep of LIU with a 4-1 victory over the Sharks on Saturday.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening period, freshman Tessa Janecke scored the opening goal in the second off a pair of assists by Josie Bothun and Izzy Heminger to put Penn State ahead 1-0 with 14:14 remaining in the period.
 - Senior Julie Gough increased the Nittany Lion lead with a goal with 10:25 left in the third period to give Penn State a 2-0 lead.
 - LIU got on the scoreboard with 6:37 left in the frame off a goal by Abby Latorella to narrow the Penn State lead to 2-1.
 - The Nittany Lions countered with a power-play goal by Kendall Butze for her first collegiate goal with 3:35 remaining to take a 3-1 lead.
 - Senior Kiara Zanon secured the victory with an empty net shorthanded goal with 44 seconds left in the game to come out with the 4-1 win.
 
GOALTENDING
- Goalie Josie Bothun stopped 19 shots on 20 attempted to capture her 14th win of the season.
 
GAME NOTES AND STATS
- Tessa Janecke led the Nittany Lions with four points featuring one goal and three assists.
 - Janecke accomplished her first collegiate four-point game.
 - Izzy Heminger tallied her fourth straight multi-point game of the year.
 - Mallory Uihlein recorded her second multi-point game this season.
 - Josie Bothun added her first assist of the season.
