AUSTIN, Texas — Redshirt senior Ally Schlegel was named to the Academic All-American Third Team as selected by College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
The Academic All-America program, which requires nominees to possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Schlegel earns her first Academic All-America honor of her career in a season where she has also been named First Team All-American, a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, All-North Region, First Team All-Big Ten, Big Ten All-Tournament Team and Offensive MVP of the Big Ten Tournament.
A two-time captain, Schlegel helped lead the Nittany Lions to their sixth consecutive NCAA Third Round appearance and the program's ninth Big Ten Tournament title during the 2022 season.
The Parker, Colo. native is a two-time Academic All-District honoree and in fall 2021, she also was recognized as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
In Spring 2022, Schlegel graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a minor in Sustainability Leadership. She is currently enrolled in the Management and Organizational Leadership graduate program.
