UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's lacrosse head coach Jeff Tambroni announced the 2023 schedule on Friday. The slate features six home games, including three non-conference and three Big Ten matchups.
Fans will get to see plenty of the Nittany Lions early in the season as three of the team's first five games will be played in Happy Valley.
Schedule Highlights
- Penn State opens the season at home against Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 4. Following the Leopards, the Lions host two more home games in-between the months of February and March which features games against Stony Brook (Feb. 18) and the University of Pennsylvania (Mar. 4).
- The Lions play two top-tier Ivy League teams on the road this season against Yale (Feb. 25) and Cornell (March 11).
- The non-conference slate also includes a road contest at Villanova (Feb. 12) and a neutral site match in Levittown, N.Y. against Marquette.
- Penn State opens the Big Ten schedule on the road against defending champion Maryland on March 25. Penn State has only one other Big Ten road match at Michigan on April 15.
- The Nittany Lions will host three Big Ten opponents at Panzer Stadium on Apr. 2 against Ohio State, Johns Hopkins (Apr. 8), and Rutgers (Apr. 21).
- The schedule overall features seven of the 12 opponents having played in at least one of the past four NCAA Tournaments. Those opponents are Villanova, Yale, Penn, Cornell, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and Rutgers.
- The semifinal and championship rounds of the Big Ten Tournament will be hosted by Johns Hopkins this season.
