UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's basketball team will begin Big Ten Tournament play on Wednesday, March 2 against Rutgers. The Lady Lions enter as the 12-seed, facing the 13-seed Scarlet Knights. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with a broadcast on Big Ten Network.
The winner of Wednesday's matchup will meet Indiana, the 5-seed, on Thursday at approximately 2 p.m.
The Lady Lions, led by head coach Carolyn Kieger, concluded the regular season with an 11-17 record and a 5-13 mark in Big Ten action.
Makenna Marisa is averaging 22.5 points per game this season, ranking eighth in the nation, and has recorded 18 games with 20 or more points.
Leilani Kapinus leads Penn State defensively with 56 steals and 32 blocks, holding second in the Big Ten in both categories.
