*updated on March 31 to reflect change in schedule, pool assignments*

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's basketball graduate student John Harrar has been selected to participate in the 2022 3X3U National Championship. The event is scheduled for April 1-3 at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans, the host city of this year's men's Final Four.

The event pits 16 four-man teams representing every Division I basketball conference against each other in a three-day, 3-on-3 tournament. These teams, comprised of players who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility and are aspiring professional prospects, will compete for a $150,000 prize pool. The games will be broadcast live on Twitter and ESPN2/ESPNU.

Harrar is one of four players who will be a member of the "#B1GMACtion" team, made up of Big Ten and Mid-American Conference (MAC) players. Harrar's teammates will be revealed later this week.

Harrar wrapped up his Penn State career with a program-record 146 games played. The Wallingford, Pa. native finished his final season as one of just two Big Ten players to average a double-double with 10.6 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game, making him the first Nittany Lion in 22 years to finish the season averaging a double-double. Harrar shot 64.0 percent from the field this season, tied for the second-best single-season mark in Penn State history. He graduates No. 2 all-time in career FG% (59.6%), No. 5 all-time in career rebounds (854) and as one of just six players in program history with upwards of 800 career points and 800 career rebounds.

3X3U National Championship teams will play each squad in their respective pool on April 1 and 2 before all 16 will head to the knockout stage on April 3, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals. The winning team from each pool play game will win $1,000, victories in the first two knockout rounds will net another $1,000, a quarterfinal win is worth $5,000, a semifinal triumph is another $10,000, while the team that takes home the Tournament title will add $50,000 to their winnings.
