Lady Lions’ 2022-23 Nonconference Schedule Released

Opens in a new window Full Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State women's basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger announced Wednesday the program's 2022-23 nonconference schedule. The Lady Lions face 11 teams with eight contests coming at Bryce Jordan Center.

"We are thrilled to have a nonconference schedule that will prepare us for Big Ten play," Kieger said. "We have several home games that will be entertaining for our fans at the Bryce Jordan Center. We're looking forward to growing our fan base and competing at the highest level."

Home Power-Five Matchups: Syracuse (Monday, Nov. 21), Virginia (Wednesday, Nov. 30) and West Virginia (Sunday, Dec. 11)
The Orange come to University Park after hosting a game between the two schools in the 2020-21 season. The Lady Lions and Mountaineers square off for the first time since March 8, 1991, a 109-66 win for Penn State in Philadelphia in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The game against the Cavaliers was already announced as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. All three rich tradition programs sport a first-year head coach.

Other Home Games: Norfolk State (Wednesday, Nov. 9), Fairfield (Friday, Nov. 11), Youngstown State (Tuesday, Nov. 15), Bryant (Friday, Nov. 18) and Cornell (Wednesday, Dec. 21)
The season is opened in the first-ever matchup against the Spartans, a participant in the WNIT last season after finishing as runners-up in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Stags then come to University Park, fresh off an NCAA Tournament appearance after winning both the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships with a 19-1 league record. A rematch is set with the Penguins (a 78-58 Penn State victory last Dec. 12), who finished the season in second place in the Horizon League (18-4) and played in the WNIT. The Lady Lions also square off the Bulldogs and Big Red for the first time.

Thanksgiving in the Sunshine State: Daytona Beach Invitational (Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26)
Penn State plays two games in the tournament. Matchups and tip times for Daytona Beach will be announced prior to the start of the season.

A Trip to Philly: Drexel (Sunday, Dec. 18)
Penn State returns to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since Nov. 11, 2016, also a contest against the Dragons. Drexel won the Colonial Athletic Association Regular Season Championship last season and advanced to the third round of the WNIT.

Additional game times, television coverage and ticket information for Penn State's 2022-23 nonconference matchups will be released later.
