Penn State’s Ola Strzalkowski Takes Home Fifth Place at January North American Cup

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – One out of a series of Olympic Qualifying events took place this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. The Nittany Lion fencing teams excelled in Division I men's and women's sabre with Neil Lilov finishing in 12th place and Ola Strzalkowski in 5th. 
 
Nicholaus Zielinski also competed alongside Lilov in men's sabre, with Zachary Suico, Nicholas Glaz, Mitchel Bekker, Ryan Griffiths, and Devin Tafoya participating in men's epee. 
 
Representing Penn State in men's foil was Aidan Johnson with Samantha Catantan finishing at 21st place in women's foil. 
 
The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will be hosting their last home event of the 2022-23 season this Sunday, January 15th, in the multi-sport facility with action beginning at 8:30 a.m. The seniors from both teams will be honored at 12:40 p.m., preceding a battle with Duke on strips 1-5 at 1 p.m. Penn State will also face fencers from Yale, Columbia, The University of Pennsylvania, UNC, Temple, and Haverford.
