Men's Gymnastics Sweeps Big Ten Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill.- Penn State men's gymnastics sweeps both weekly awards announced by the Big Ten. Matt Cormier wins Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week and Ian Raubal earns Freshman of the Week.
 
Junior captain Cormier is named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week in back-to-back weeks, marking the third time receiving this honor in his career. He helped lead the Nittany Lions to a 407.600 team win, their best team score since 2019, at the West Point Open last weekend. 
 
Cormier won the all-around at the meet with a score of 81.950 on the first day. He also placed first on floor exercise (14.650) on Friday. The Massachusetts native advanced to the individual event finals on day two in floor placing second (14.200), vault placing fourth (14.250) and high bar placing sixth (12.300). 
 
Freshman Raubal gets his first Big Ten nod this week after a standout performance at the West Point Open. Raubal finished first on still rings with the highest score of 14.500 on the first day. His scores on rings, parallel bars and high bar advanced him to the individual event finals on Saturday.
 
The Switzerland native earned championships on parallel bars (13.900) and high bar (13.650). Raubal also placed third on rings (13.250) on the final day.
