UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the first time in three years, the Penn State men's ice hockey team unveiled a new uniform ahead of the annual 'Wear White' game against the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
The uniform is simple and bold, featuring a thick grey stripe between a pair of navy stripes with a block Penn State across the chest along with the return of the beloved circle logo, featured on the grey alternates from 2013-2018, appearing on both shoulders. Special edition socks matching the sweater will accompany the white gloves the team has been wearing on Saturdays at home all season. Completing the look is a solid blue helmet with a logo of the Nittany Lion Shrine on each side.
Following the event each jersey will be up for auction on GoPSUsports.com with the proceeds benefitting a pair of organizations, Happy Valley Special Hockey and THON. The auction will begin Saturday at noon and run through Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00pm.
"We are extremely proud of our players for giving back to our local Hockey Valley community through their involvement with Happy Valley Special Hockey, and this auction enables us to make a meaningful contribution to their tremendous organization," mentioned head coach Guy Gadowsky. "We've always had success with jersey auctions in the past and knew this would be a great way to give back to the community as well as continue our relationship with THON, plus they look really cool too."
Penn State has also designed matching rally towels that will be available to the full arena on Saturday night. Fans with a standing room only ticket who would like a towel should visit guest services while supplies last.
Jersey's will be stripped of their name bars prior to shipment and winning bidders should expect to receive their jerseys at the conclusion of the regular season as they may be worn again throughout the semester.
