Nittany Lions Fall Short at St. John’s Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams traveled to Queens, N.Y. on Saturday, Jan. 21 for the St. John's Invitational. They fenced against Columbia, Harvard, Notre Dame, and Ohio State in Taffner Arena. 
 
Both Ola Strzalkowski and Axelle Wasiak led the women's team, finishing the end of the day 11-4. On the men's side, Arwen Borowiak was the top performer, finishing 9-3. 
 
The women's team outlasted Harvard 15-12 and St. John's 17-10. They narrowly fell to Ohio State 16-11 and both Columbia and Notre Dame 20-7. 
 
For the men, they beat St. John's 14-13, losing to Harvard 14-13, Notre Dame 21-6, Columbia 17-10 and Ohio State 15-12. 
 
Next, the Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah for the W.S. World Cup Jan. 27 to Jan 29.
