ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State's Eduardo Cisternas (swimmer of the week) and Cooper Morley (freshmen of the week) garnered Big Ten Swimming and Diving weekly awards after their performances against No. 13 Virginia Tech, the conference announced Wednesday. This is Cisternas's and Morley's first Big Ten weekly honor.
Eduardo Cisternas:
Cisternas struck gold in the 1000 Free, finishing 16 seconds ahead of his competitors with a new school record by eight seconds (8:56.63). He also earned an NCAA B-Cut and Penn State's third-fastest 500 Free with a time of 4:18.50.
Cooper Morley:
With only three weeks of collegiate experience, Morely took first place for the Nittany Lions in the 100 Back, out-touching fierce competition by 0.15 seconds by swimming to an NCAA B-Cut time (47.41). He also contributed to Penn State relays and scored in the 50 Free and 200 Back.
The Nittany Lions return to action this Friday, January 27 at 4 p.m. at McCoy Natatorium for their final regular season meet against Villanova.
