UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women's hockey freshman forward Tessa Janecke was named the Hockey Commissioner's Association (HCA) women's hockey National Rookie of the Month for December as announced Wednesday afternoon.
Janecke becomes the third Nittany Lion ever to win a national player of the month award after Kiara Zanon and Josie Bothun each received an honor in 2020 and 2021.
The Orangeville, Ill. native tallied three goals with six assists for nine points during the month of December. She nailed a game winner alongside one power-play goal.
Janecke has gathered four CHA Rookie of the Week honors as well as two CHA Rookie of the Month nods (Sept. and Dec.)
On the year, Janecke sits second on the team in points with 27 coming off 14 goals and 13 assists.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, January 13 when they host RIT at Pegula Ice Arena. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
