WASHINGTON, D.C.- Junior captain Kristin O'Neill is named to The Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second consecutive year. O'Neill earned the honor at the start of her sophomore campaign last year. She adds this preseason nod with her Big Ten Player to Watch honor to begin her junior season.
The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the top male and female lacrosse player in the country. The selection committee is comprised of premier collegiate coaches are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
O'Neill was named a captain this season for her leadership on and off the field. She led the team last year with 51 points, 39 goals, 22 caused turnovers and 40 draw controls. The junior also finished her sophomore season with a list of awards. She earned first team All-Big Ten, first team All-Region and was named an Inside Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention.
Along with her Big Ten preseason distinction and now The Tewaaraton Watch List honor, she was also chosen by Inside Lacrosse as a top 50 returning player to division I lacrosse this year.
The Nittany Lions begin their 2023 season tomorrow, February 11 at noon at Panzer Stadium.
