UNIVERSITY PARK – Makenna Marisa scored 22 points and Leilani Kapinus recorded a double-double, but Penn State came up short in a 67-55 loss to No. 13/14 Ohio State in Big Ten women's basketball action Thursday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Kapinus scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to record her second consecutive double-double and third of the season. Taniyah Thompson scored eight points, while Alexa Williamson contributed seven rebounds.
The Lady Lions, who played a nationally-ranked opponent for the third time in five games, dropped to 13-13 overall and 4-11 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes upped their record to 22-5 overall and 11-5 in the conference.
NOTES
- Marisa scored in double-digits for the 79th time in her career. It was her 36th game scoring 20 or more points. She now has 1,717 career points and needs just nine more to pass Angie Potthoff (1,725, 1993-97) for 10th place in career scoring in program history.
- Marisa's two 3-pointers give her 180 for her career, passing Teniya Paige (2016-19) and Tyra Grant (2007-10) for the fifth-most career three-point field goals made.
