Men's Lacrosse Edges Stony Brook 17-12

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's lacrosse team returned home to Panzer Stadium with a 17-12 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Stony Brook started off the game with three straight goals to take an early 3-0 lead with 12:29 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Penn State countered with four unanswered goals including two by TJ Malone to put Penn State ahead 4-3 with 5:28 remaining in the quarter.
  • The Nittany Lions added a pair of goals in the closing minutes to take a 6-4 lead after one quarter.
  • Stony Brook opened the second quarter with a goal by Noah Armitage followed by a three-goal barrage by Penn State with goals from Kevin Winkoff, Ethan Long and Jack Traynor to put Penn State ahead 9-5.
  • Penn State and Stony Brook each added a pair of goals in the quarter to make the score 11-7 Penn State after the first half.
  • Penn State countered every Stony Brook goal in the second half as Jake Morin tacked on two goals in the half to help secure the 17-12 victory.

GOALTENDING

  • Jack Fracyon allowed 12 goals on 26 shots to improve his record to 2-1 on the year.

STATS AND NOTES

  • TJ Malone tallied his 12th career hat-trick and first four-goal game of the year.
  • Six Nittany Lions tallied at least two goals.
  • Chase Mullins went 14-26 in the faceoff circle.
