No. 10 Women's Hockey Begins CHA Tournament Run Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - It's playoff time in Hockey Valley as the 10th-ranked Penn State women's ice hockey team begins its College Hockey America Tournament run starting Friday, February 24 when they host Lindenwood for a best two out of three game series. Puck-drop is set for 2:30 p.m.

HISTORY

  • This will be the 46th meeting between the two teams as the Nittany Lions lead the series 28-11-6. Penn State defeated Lindenwood in the last matchup on January 28 by a score of 6-3.

CHA SEMIFINALS AT PEGULA

  • This will be the second time in program history the Nittany Lions will host the CHA semifinals as they did back in the 2015-16 season where they hosted RIT.

CORREIA NEAR 100

  • Graduate student Courtney Correia is approaching 100 career points after of four point week at RIT. She was named CHA Forward of the Week for her play at the Tigers.
  • The Whitby, Ont. native currently has 96 points off 43 goals and 53 assists.
  • This season, Correia has tallied 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points.

WALLIN SCORES IN THE POSTSEASON

  • Junior Olivia Wallin is one the strong postseason performers at Penn State.
  • In her first two postseasons, she sits tied for third all-time in postseason goals with three. She also sits fourth all-time in points with four.
  • This season, she's tallied a career-high 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points.

FLASHBACK TO 2018

  • The last time the Nittany Lions encountered Lindenwood in the CHA Tournament came in the 2018 postseason.
  • The Nittany Lions defeated the Lions in the opening round winning 2-1.
  • Penn State then fell in the semifinals to Robert Morris 2-7.

UNBEATEN STREAK, CONT.

  • Penn State currently stands at a 15-game unbeaten streak.
  • It is the third longest streak in CHA and is just two wins away from being the second highest in the conference's history.
  • The last time the Nittany Lions dropped a game was on Nov. 25 when they lost to Minnesota.
