Karnes is Named to Senior National Team

LOUISVILLE, K.Y.- Men's Gymnastics' Josh Karnes placed third in the all-around at the 2023 Winter Cup to earn a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team. His combined all-around score from the two days of competition was 160.250.
 
"Our guys fought valiantly this weekend at the Winter Cup," said head coach Randy Jepson. "We have some great news with Josh Karnes earning a berth to the Senior National Team after an outstanding performance this weekend. This will open many doors for Josh. We are so thrilled for him and excited to be continuing a legacy of Penn State National Team members."
 
Karnes' finished the first day of the event on Friday, Feb. 24 in seventh with an all-around score of 79.500. He earned fifth on floor with a 13.750 and seventh on parallel bars with a 14.400. 
 
On day two, he improved his first scores on pommel horse with a 12.100, rings with a 13.350, vault with a 14.000 and high bar with a 13.300. Karnes finished with a 80.750 all-around score to total a 160.250 combined score from both days. 
 
He medaled on parallel bars with a combined score of 28.700, good for a bronze medal. He notched fourth place finishes on floor with a 27.450 combined score and high bar with a 26.550 combined score.
