No. 10 Women's Hockey Captures Three CHA Monthly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Penn State women's ice hockey team scored three College Hockey America monthly awards on Monday afternoon. Tessa Janecke captured both CHA Forward of the Month and Rookie of the Month honors while Izzy Heminger received a CHA Defensive Player of the Month nod.
 
Janecke led the team in points for the month of February scoring five goals and tallying seven assists for 12 points. She recorded her first career hat-trick in the Nittany Lions 7-1 victory over Lindenwood in game two of the CHA Tournament semifinals with three goals and added two assists in the game. The Orangeville, Ill. native recorded four multi-point games in the six played in the month of February. This is her first CHA Forward of the Month honor and fourth Rookie of the Month nod. On the year, Janecke has 22 goals and 24 assists for 46 points. 
 
Heminger led all Nittany Lion defensemen in the month of February with one goal and seven assists for eight points. She tallied three multi-point games in February and recorded a plus/minus rating of +16. This is her second Defensive Player of the Month nod. On the year, Heminger has four goals alongside 23 assists for 27 points. 
 
The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday, March 4 when they host Mercyhurst in the CHA Tournament Championship. Puck-drop is set for 2 p.m.
