UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's volleyball's Cal Fisher was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, earning the award after helping the Nittany Lions post 3-1 wins over then-No. 10 USC and then-No. 2 UCLA at the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge.
Fisher hit .397 while averaging 3.50 kills, 1.88 digs, 0.63 aces, and 0.50 blocks per set in the two top-10 wins. He returned from an injury to make his season debut in the victory over the Trojans. He came off the bench in the opening set and recorded his first kill of the season just moments later. Fisher went on to hit .429 with 13 kills, nine digs, two aces, and two blocks.
Penn State returned to Rec Hall on Saturday and took down UCLA for its fifth ranked win of the season. Fisher started and hit .367 with 15 kills, six digs, three aces, and two blocks.
Fisher earned the fourth EIVA weekly award of his career. He picked up the fourth EIVA weekly honor by a Penn State player this season.
Penn State jumped up one spot to No. 3 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. The Lions return to action Saturday when they travel to take on Saint Francis at 7 p.m.
