Men's Gymnastics Set for Double Dual With Women's Gymnastics on Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Penn State men's gymnastics returns to Rec Hall to host William & Mary for a double dual meet with women's gymnastics. Both men and women events will be occurring simultaneously.
 
Penn State is ranked fourth in Road to Nationals rankings this week as well as fifth in the Big Ten. 
 
Josh Karnes, Michael Artlip, Matt Cormier and Michael Jaroh competed at the 2023 Winter Cup in Louisville, KY. this past weekend. Karnes' third-place all-around finish earned him a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team.

  • This will be Penn State's Senior Night. Senior Chase Clingman will be honored in a ceremony at the conclusion of the meet along with the seniors on the women's gymnastics team.
  • Wear White to support the Nittany Lions at Rec Hall. 

LAST TIME OUT
Penn State won its most recent competition against Michigan on Feb. 11. The Nittany Lions tied their season high team score at 407.600 to top Michigan's score of 401.450. The team took four of six event titles and earned season highs on parallel bars with a 68.850 and high bar with a 66.050.
 
Karnes was the all-around champion of the night with a score of 83.750, good for one of the top all-around scores in collegiate gymnastics so far this season. The sophomore earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week after his performance against the Wolverines.
 
Cormier secured two event championships on floor, with a season best 14.600 and vault, with a career best 14.850. He also notched a career high on parallel bars with a 14.000. 

Chase Clingman made his return to the lineup, earning an event title on pommel horse with a 14.400 score.
 
HISTORY WITH WILLIAM & MARY 
Penn State owns all five wins in the all-time head-to-head series with William & Mary. The previous time the two teams met was Feb. 15, 2020 when the Nittany Lions claimed a 403.750-381.100 victory.

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY

  • Mark Fu earned ECAC Rookie of the Week last week after his all-around debut and fourth place finish against top ranked Stanford and Oklahoma.
  • This will be the first head-to-head meet for the Tribe this season.
