Penn State Diving’s Daphne Wils Competes at NCAA Championships in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Penn State diver Daphne Wils competes at the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday in the 1 Meter and Friday in the 3 Meter. The meet's diving events, hosted by Tennessee at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, start at 12:15 p.m. with finals during the 6 p.m. session.

The four-day meet, starting Wednesday at 6 p.m. with relay finals and continuing Thursday through Saturday with 10 a.m. preliminaries and 6 p.m. finals can be streamed via ESPN+. Live results are also available at UTSports.com, DiveMeets.com and on the Meet Mobile app.  
 
Daphne Wils
Wils qualified for NCAAs at the Zone A Championships, winning the 1 Meter by over 20 points (610.80) and scoring within the top 12 of the 3 Meter (560.80).
 
At this year's B1G Championships, she became the first female diver to advance to finals from Penn State in the past decade with two A Final appearances in the 1 Meter and 3 Meter, placing fourth (311.45) and seventh (317.25) in the conference.
 
During the regular season, she lead the team with a pair of school record-setting performances in the 1 Meter (330.90) and 3 Meter (356.55) against Army. Notably, the graduate student won every event she's competed in at McCoy Natatorium.
 
NCAA Championship History:
Wils is the first woman to represent the Nittany Lions at the NCAA Championships in 18 years. In 2005 Alison Riccobono placed 16th in the 3 Meter (460.15) and 34th in the 1 Meter (213.20), earning an All-American honorable mention for her performance in the former.
