Fencing Closes Out Day One at NCAA Championships

 
Fencing Closes Out Day One at NCAA Championships
All Penn Staters remain in the top 20 after three rounds 
 
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams qualified seven fencers to compete at the 2023 Championships being held at Duke University. On the first day of action, The Nittany Lions had four male fencers compete in rounds 1-3 of their respective weapons. 
 
Arwen Borowiak and Aidan Johnson competed in foil with Ryan Griffiths in epee and Clement Perrier in sabre. 
 
After round three, Borowiak sits at ninth place, Johnson at 12th, Griffiths at 10th and Perrier at 17th.
 
All fencers from the men's team will continue fencing tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. with rounds four and five. Semifinals and finals will begin at 1:30 p.m. 
 
The women will start their run on Saturday with rounds 1-3 of epee. Women's foil will begin at 11 a.m. with sabre to conclude the day at 1:30 p.m. Rounds four and five will start Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with semifinals and finals at 1:30 p.m.
