Arwen Borowiak Becomes 3x All-American at NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams qualified seven fencers for the 2023 NCAA national championships. The first two days of competition were dedicated to the men's events. All four men who competed in their respected weapon finished in the top 15, including one All-American.
 
Foilist Arwen Borowiak finished in eighth place, earning All-America status. As a junior, this is his third straight season as an NCAA qualifier and All-American. He earned All-America honors as a freshman with a sixth-place finish and then placed seventh at the end of his sophomore season. He won 12 out of 23 bouts throughout the two-day period to claim this accolade. 
 
In epee, Ryan Griffiths finished in 13th place with Clement Perrier coming in at 15th in sabre. Aidan Johnson finished right behind Borowiak at ninth in foil.
 
Ahead of the women's events taking place Saturday and Sunday, Penn State currently sits in seventh place with a team score of 337. 
 
Rounds 1-3 of women's epee will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Foil will follow at 11 a.m. with sabre to conclude the day at 1:30 p.m. Rounds four and five will start Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with semifinals and finals at 1:30 p.m.
