Women Wrap up First Day of Competition at NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams qualified seven fencers to compete at the 2023 NCAA Championships being held at Duke University. On the first day of action for the women, The Nittany Lions had three female fencers compete in the first three rounds of each weapon. 
 
Samantha Catantan is competing in foil with Kateryna Chorniy in epee and Ola Strzalkowski in sabre. 
 
After three rounds, Catantan sits at 13th place, Chorniy at 15th and Strzalkowski at 20th. 
 
All fencers from the women's team will continue fencing tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. with rounds four and five. Semifinals and finals will begin at 1:30 p.m.
