Penn State Diving Takes on Day One of NCAA Diving Zones A

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –  Penn State Diving took on day one of the NCAA Diving Zones A Championship at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Monday, with three divers moving on from the preliminary rounds.

"Hayden had a fantastic day," says Penn State head diving coach Jeff DiNicola. "Making finals and moving up was great to watch. Others had a few off moments and several highlights. Looking forward to tomorrow events."
 
Diving:
Hayden Elliott scored 301.30 in the men's 1-meter preliminary events on Monday, finishing 11th to qualify for the men's 1-meter championship later. In the final rounds, Elliott landed a 12th place finish, scoring 615.90 to close Monday's events for the men.

Daphne Wils and Wei Wei each advanced to the championship round for the women's 3-meter dive. Wils landed a 16th place qualifying finish at 273.20 on the boards, and Wei dove into an 18th place finish, scoring 272.75. Into the final round for the women's 3-meter dive, Wils scored 560.80 for an 11th place finish, Wei came in just behind at 542.90 to finish at 15th.

The Nittany Lions diving squad will continue on to day two of NCAA Diving Zones for the men's 3-meter and the women's 1-meter dive.
