23 Nittany Lion Fencers to Compete at NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals Saturday

 
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams move onto the post season as they travel to Lafayette College on Saturday, March 11 for NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals. Here, they will face the qualifying fencers from the13 Mid-Atlantic/South schools, including Drew, Duke, Farleigh Dickinson, Haverford, Lafayette, Princeton, North Carolina, Penn, Wagner, NJIT, Stevens Tech, and Johns Hopkins. Bouts will begin at 9 a.m. at the Kirby Sports Center. There will be no admission charge for spectators. 
 
Penn State will send four fencers to compete under each respective gender and weapon, besides men's epee. 
 
Men's epee will have Ryan Griffiths, Devin Tafoya and Mitchel Bekker with Kateryna Chorniy, Axelle Wasiak, Jaclyn Khrol and Jordan Liverant to compete for the women. 
 
Arwen Borowiak, Aidan Johnson, Donavyn Martinez and Caiden Cannon will fence men's foil with Samantha Catantan, Arianna Proietti, Grace Seal and Ariel Ratsep on the women's side. 
 
Men's sabre will consist of Clement Perrier, Neil Lilov and Nicholaus Zielinski with
Ola Strzalkowski, Mia Novick, Aurora Colter and Amelia Baker competing in women's sabre.

Foil and epee will start at 9 a.m. with quarterfinals at 10:30, a break at 12 p.m., semifinals at 1 p.m. and finals at 3 p.m. Men's sabre will start at 9 a.m. with a break at 10 a.m., quarterfinals at 11 a.m., semifinals at 2 p.m. and finals at 3:30 p.m. Women's sabre starts at 10 a.m. with a break at 12 p.m., quarterfinals at 1 p.m., semifinals at 2 p.m. and finals beginning at 3:30 p.m.
