Men's Gymnastics Heads to Ohio State for Tri-Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Penn State men's gymnastics take on Ohio State and Oklahoma in a tri-meet in Columbus, Ohio. The Nittany Lions take on two top opponents in their first three-team meet of the season against the sixth ranked Buckeyes and the first ranked Sooners.
 
Penn State is ranked fourth in Road to Nationals rankings this week as well as fifth in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions rank first in the country on vault.

LAST TIME OUT
Penn State won its last meet against William & Mary on senior night on Friday, March 3. The Nittany Lions topped the Tribe 400.900-386.000, marking their largest margin of victory this season. 
 
Ian Raubal won the all-around with his score of 81.250. He also earned and event title on high bar with a career high 13.900 and added another personal best with his third-place parallel bars finish (13.950).
 
Ethan Dick had his first all-around performance of the year, taking second with an 80.050 score. Dick took his first event title of the season on pommel horse (13.800) and topped his personal best on parallel bars (14.200).
 
Freshman Will Fleck was the last all-around competitor for the Nittany Lions, making his first appearance in all six events this season. He claimed his first event title of his young career with a 13.800 on floor.
 
The Nittany Lions defeated the Tribe in all but one event in the competition.

HISTORY WITH OHIO STATE AND OKLAHOMA
Penn State is 14-17 in its head-to-head series with Ohio State. The most recent competition in March of 2022 was won by the Buckeyes by a score of 397.200-393.900. 
 
In head-to-head meets, Oklahoma has claimed all four victories. Penn State has not seen Oklahoma in the regular season since 2011 in a tri-meet. The Sooners topped the Nittany Lions 366.400-356.750.

  • Ohio State's freshman Caden Spencer was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week and Freshman of the Week this week after taking three event titles on vault, parallel bars and high bar in the Buckeyes win over Army.
