Urgo Named National and Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Haley Urgo's major defensive performance in Penn State's 12-7 upset over No. 10 Maryland last Thursday, earns her National and conference recognition. The IL/IWLCA and Big Ten both select Urgo as Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

The senior defender was a key component to the Nittany Lions' defense that held No. 10 Maryland to its lowest goal total against Penn State since 1997 in Thursday night's upset victory for the Lions. Urgo posted a career high five caused turnovers and scooped up three ground balls. Her forced turnovers on the Maryland offense came at big points in the game. Urgo now sits with 17 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls this season.

This is Penn State's third time being represented in weekly National and conference honors. Urgo joins Ellie Hollin who earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week (3/25) and Gretchen Gilmore who was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week (3/21).
