WASHINGTON, D.C. - Penn State men's lacrosse attackman TJ Malone has been added to the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 List as the foundation announced on Wednesday. The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the season contenders for this year's Tewaaraton Award.
Malone becomes Penn State's first Tewaaraton Award nominee of the season. The West Chester, Pa. native currently leads the team in points and assists with 49 and 24 respectively. He has scored three plus goals four times this season including a career-high eight-point outing against Johns Hopkins on April 8 with four goals and four assists.
Nominees can be players from the Watch Lists or not from the Watch Lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions. Five finalists will be announced on May 11 and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on June 1.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Malone and the rest of the Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, April 21 when they host 11th-ranked Rutgers for the final regular match of the season. Opening faceoff from Panzer Stadium is set for 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
