UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The fifth-seeded Penn State men's lacrosse team was selected to host Ivy League Tournament champion Princeton in the first round of the 2023 NCAA tournament on Sunday night. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. Ticket information will be released at a later date.
The Nittany Lions have faced Princeton three times in their history as the Nittany Lions will look for their first win against the Tigers in program history. Princeton leads the series 3-0-0. The last time Penn State faced Princeton came on March 21, 1998, when the Nittany Lions fell 13-5 against the Tigers.
The winner of the of the game will advance to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals in Annapolis, Md. where they will face the winner of the first-round matchup between Maryland and Army West Point.
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Penn State will make its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history with its first appearance coming in the 2003 season and its latest in the 2019 season. The Nittany Lions own a 2-5 overall record in the NCAA Tournament and have reached the final four one time in 2019 when they fell to Yale 21-17.
