ATHENS, Ga. – Penn State women's golf senior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) finished tied for 43rd in the 66-player field at the NCAA Athens Regional this week moving up seven spots on Wednesday following a final round 2-over, 74. Delavallade finished the week 13-over, 75-80-74--229.
Wednesday marked the most successful round for the senior as she finished the day with a 2-over, 74, which included a 16-hole stretch of even-par after she opened the day with back-to-back bogeys.
"I am definitely happy to end on a good round," commented Delavallade. "My game was more solid today and overall this week was a nice experience. I'm really happy I got to live it."
The host Bulldogs secured the regional championship with a 13-under score while South Carolina (11-under), San Jose State (14-over), Ole Miss (17-over) and Augusta (21-over) rounded out the top five and advance to the NCAA Championships on May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Kent State's Leon Takagi finished tied for fifth at 3-under for the week and is the top individual finisher (not on an advancing team) that will advance out of the Athens regional into the NCAA Championships.
