OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- Incoming freshmen Landon Simpson and Luke Esparo competed at the 2023 Men's Development Program Junior National Championships this past weekend in Oklahoma City, Okla. Simpson's performance at the event qualified him for the U.S. Championships along side future teammate Josh Karnes.
Simpson finished second in the all-around last weekend with his score of 79.600 and 80.800 to total 160.400. He earned the top score on parallel bars with a 13.700 and a 13.450 to combine for a 27.150. The future Nittany Lion also posted a third-place finish on floor (26.950) and second on vault (29.750)
Esparo finished the weekend with a first-place finish on still rings with a score of 14.200 and 14.400 to combine for a 28.600. He also finished fifth on vault (29.100) and ninth on high bar (25.450).
The pair of gymnasts will join the Nittany Lions this year as freshmen when they arrive to Happy Valley this summer.
