Penn State Alumni Team Happy Valley Hoopers to Compete in 2023 TBT

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Penn State will be represented in this summer's The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the $1 million, winner-take-all summer basketball event broadcast live on ESPN networks.
 
Organized by Nittany Lion alum John Harrar, the Happy Valley Hoopers are a first-year alumni team that will take their shot at the $1 million prize. The current roster includes Penn State alum Harrar (2017-22), Myles Dread (2018-23), Sam Sessoms (2020-22), Jamari Wheeler (2017-21), Taylor Nussbaum (2017-21), Trent Buttrick (2017-21), Mike Watkins (2016-20), Curtis Jones Jr. (2020), Josh Reaves (2015-19) and Shep Garner (2016-18). Former Nittany Lion assistant coach Ross Condon will serve as the head coach of the Happy Valley Hoopers, while former Penn State graduate assistant Bo Waggoner will be the team's assistant coach.
 
The Happy Valley Hoopers will play in the Syracuse Regional, with games taking place at Upstate Medical Arena at the Oncenter War Memorial. Happy Valley Hoopers will open TBT action against The Nerd Team on Monday, July 24, at 4 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Boeheim's Army (Syracuse alumni) and Team Gibson on Wednesday, July 26 at 6 p.m. The Syracuse Regional championship game is set for Friday, July 28 at 9 p.m.
 
The winner of the Syracuse Regional will head to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia for the quarterfinals on Sunday, July 30. The semifinals and $1 million winner-take-all championship game will be Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 in Philadelphia, Pa. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
