Lynnzee Brown Named to Women’s Gymnastics Coaching Staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's gymnastics team, and head coach Sarah Brown, tabbed Lynnzee Brown as the program's newest assistant coach. Brown joins the Nittany Lions following an illustrious gymnastics career at Denver where she was a co-national champion, a 10-time WCGA Postseason All-American and a two-time AAI Award finalist.

"I am beyond excited to welcome Lynnzee to the Penn State Gymnastics coaching staff," said Sarah Brown. "I've known Lynnzee since she was a "baby dragon" training at Gage [club gymnastics] and I've been so impressed and inspired by her collegiate career. Lynnzee is truly an amazing person, who has handled various highs and lows with grace, positivity and poise. She will bring tremendous value and experience to our program and I know our athletes are going to love her."

"I'm honored for the opportunity to be at Penn State as I transition from the athlete experience to the coaching experience," said Lynnzee Brown. "I aim to give back to the student-athletes as much as I gained from NCAA gymnastics. My heart will forever be in the sport and I can't wait to begin the journey with such a remarkable team and staff."

During her time with the Pioneers, Brown etched her name into Denver's history books as an outstanding all-around athlete with many awards, records and accomplishments. Brown is a 10-time WCGA Postseason All-American, a 10-time WCGA Regular Season All-American and has earned multiple All-Big 12 and all-region honors.

In her most recent campaign, Brown finished as the co-national runner up on vault and was fourth on floor and in the all-around. She was also a finalist for the 2023 Honda Inspiration Award after coming back from her second achilles tear for her sixth collegiate season. At the NCAA Regional Final, she set the No. 2 All-Around mark in Denver gymnastics history with a 39.800, just 0.025 points off her own school record.

Her 2022 season was cut short by her second achilles tear which forced her to miss the final nine meets of the season. Brown earned Big 12 co-Gymnast of the Year and Region 2 Gymnast of the Year honors the year before, capping off her 2021 season as a finalist for the AAI Award and the Honda Sport Award for Gymnastics.

A tumultuous 2020 campaign was cut short by her first achilles tear before the COVID-19 pandemic ended the season. However, in 2019, Brown shined. She earned a share of the NCAA floor title, tying the Denver record for highest floor total at the NCAA Championships with a 9.950. Brown also finished sixth in the all-around at the national meet and capped off her sophomore season with four postseason All-America honors (all-around, floor, bars, beam).

In her first collegiate season, Brown earned Big 12 co-Newcomer of the Year honors following a campaign in which she placed 20th overall on bars at the NCAA Championships.

Brown graduated from Denver in 2021, with a bachelor's degree in media studies, and once again in 2023 with a master's in communication management (with an emphasis in user experience strategy).
