UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women's lacrosse saw exceptional academic success throughout the 2022-23 academic year.
The Nittany Lions achieved a 3.66 cumulative team GPA including a 3.68 spring GPA. Seven student-athletes attained a perfect 4.0 in the spring. Those Nittany Lions include Brooke Barger, Alex Bruno, Kate Dougherty, Brooke Hoss, Lauren Saltz, Rachel Spilker and Haley Urgo. Penn State also concluded the semester with 24 players on the Dean's List, accomplished by a 3.5 or higher GPA.
The women's lacrosse team was also nationally recognized for its achievements in the classroom. The Nittany Lions garnered 24 Academic All-Big Ten honorees, an award that recognizes student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Penn State also became the school with the most Big Ten Distinguished Scholars among the women's lacrosse programs with 19 garnering the decoration. Women's lacrosse also had the highest showing across the spring teams at Penn State.
The most recent addition to the Nittany Lions' academic success is the IWLCA Team Academic Squad distinction, awarded to teams with a 3.2 or higher GPA. Penn State also landed 14 student-athletes on the Division I Honor Roll.
A historical on-field performance for the Nittany Lions was rounded out with their successes in the classroom throughout the 2022-23 school year.
