Four Nittany Lions Named GCAA All-America Scholars

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – A program record-tying four Penn State men's golf student-athletes have been named Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholars, as James Allen, Morgan Lofland, Jimmy Meyers and Patrick Sheehan collected the honor announced by the GCAA Wednesday.

The annual list that honors the nation's top men's golf student-athletes included a program record-tying four Nittany Lions. Penn State also placed four student-athletes on the list last year. Allen, Meyers and Sheehan each earn the honor for the second-straight year, while Lofland is a first-time recipient as a sophomore.

Allen collects his second GCAA All-America Scholar honor after competing in 11 events during the 2022-23 season and finishing third on the team with a 72.37 stroke average. He turned in one top-five finish and two top-10 placements. He was Penn State's top finisher at three events during the spring season, including the 2023 Big Ten Championships. Allen also collected Academic All-Big Ten honors this season.

Lofland earns his first-career GCAA All-America Scholar accolade. He competed in seven events for the Nittany Lions in 2022-23 and also garnered Academic All-Big Ten plaudits.

Meyers played in eight events, collecting three top-10 finishes and one top-five placement during the 2022-23 season. He finished his junior season with a career-best 73.19 stroke average. Meyers earns GCAA All-America Scholar honors for the second-straight season and was also an Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner this season.

Sheehan collects GCAA All-America Scholar honors for the second-straight year after leading the Nittany Lions in stroke average with a mark of 71.80 during his senior season. He was Penn State's highest finisher in three events and also earned GCAA All-Northeast Region honors in addition to Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
