UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Recent graduate Ashton Calder agreed to terms on an American Hockey League contract with the Bridgeport Islanders for the 2023-24 season the club announced on Tuesday. The Islanders are the AHL affiliate of the Nation Hockey League's New York Islanders.
Calder finished fourth on the team with 10 goals while adding seven assists for 17 points during his lone season in Hockey Valley after previous stops at Lake Superior State and North Dakota.
In 179 career NCAA games, the Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan native registered 54 goals with 63 assists for 117 points.
Following the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign, Calder inked an ECHL contract with the Florida Everblades appearing in 23 games scoring four goals while adding three assists for seven points. Calder helped Florida capture its second-straight Kelly Cup Championship after sweeping the Idaho Steelheads in four games.
