No. 13 Women's Volleyball Hosts UMBC and Seton Hall for Penn State Classic

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 13 Penn State hosts UMBC and Seton Hall for the Penn State Classic this weekend at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions (4-3) play the Retrievers (5-3) on Friday at 7 p.m., and take on the Pirates (6-3) on Saturday at 7 p.m. This year' marks the 41st time the Penn State Classic will be played in Happy Valley.

PENN STATE CLASSIC
• Penn State is 123-4 all-time in the Penn State Classic. The event has been held all but three seasons - 2010, 2011, 2020-21 - since 1980.
• The Nittany Lions have won 15 straight matches in the event, defeating 15 different teams from 13 different conferences. They have won all 45 sets during that stretch.
• UMBC is the Nittany Lions' first repeat opponent at the Penn State Classic since playing Yale in 2013 and 2017.

• Penn State won 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-12) over UMBC in the NCAA First Round last season at Rec Hall. Zoe Weatherington hit .438 with nine kills and four blocks in the win. Allie Holland hit .462 with seven kills, eight blocks and six digs.

• Penn State is 3-0 in the all-time series with Seton Hall. The teams first played in 2002.
• The Nittany Lions have won all nine sets against the Pirates. The last two matchups were played at Rec Hall.
• Penn State and Seton Hall haven't played since 2010.
