Penrose Helps USA Win Pan Am Final Six Gold

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Former Penn State Men's Volleyball player Jalen Penrose '18 recently helped Team USA win gold at the 2023 NORCECA Pan Am Final Six. USA went a perfect 6-0 and dropped just one set on its way to the title in Edmonton, Alberta.

USA rolled to a 5-0 record in round-robin play with wins over Dominican Republic (3-0), Mexico (3-0), Puerto Rico (3-0), Canada (3-1), and Cuba (3-0). They went on to sweep Canada in the championship match.

Penrose appeared in three matches and tallied 19 points on 14 kills, three blocks, and two aces. He had a breakout match while making his lone start in the sweep of Cuba, finishing with 11 points on nine kills, one block, and one ace.

It was the third year of the Pan Am Final Six. USA won gold for the first time after taking third in each of the first two events.
