UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Mac Podraza was named the Big Ten Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week on Monday after leading the Nittany Lions to road wins over Illinois (3-0) and No. 13 Minnesota (3-1) over the weekend.
Podraza averaged 11.29 assists/set while guiding the Penn State attack to .298 hitting over the two conference wins. She contributed in all facets of the game, adding 3.00 digs/set, 1.14 blocks/set, and 1.00 kills/set.
In the 3-0 sweep at Illinois, Podraza nearly had a double-double with her 32 assists and nine digs. She followed that with a double-double of 47 assists and 12 digs while leading Penn State to .346 hitting in the win at Minnesota.
It is the first Big Ten Setter of the Week award for Podraza while at Penn State and the 13th of her career. The Nittany Lions have won three Big Ten weekly honors this season, including two Player of the Week accolades by Jess Mruzik.
No. 15 Penn State hosts a pair of Big Ten opponents this weekend at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions play Indiana on Friday at 7 p.m., and No. 24 Ohio State on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
