Nittany Lions with Several Strong Finishes in Day One of Tri-Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State Nittany Lions Swimming and Diving team enjoyed several strong finishes in day one of their tri-meet against Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.

Top Swims

Numerous women's swimmers had excellent performances for the Nittany Lions. Sophomore Morgan Moore got the scoring started with a blazing fast 500 free time of 4:49.60 for second-place. This is her personal record in that event and the fastest time this season.

Senior Cat Stanford touched second in the 100 free with a time of 49.80. This was her fastest time of the year and just seconds away from a personal best.

Senior Abby Henderson secured the only victory for the Nittany Lions on the day in the 400 IM with a time of 4:19.56.

For the men, sophomore Andrew Christensen had two fourth place finishes in the 400 IM and 500 free.

Dives

Freshman Abigail Ekstrom followed up a big week after winning Big Ten Freshman of the Week. She dove to a third-place finish in the one-meter dive for the Nittany Lions.

Freshman Hayden Elliot was fourth in the three-meter dive with a stellar score of 345.55.

Relays

Both the men's and women's 400 medley relay and 200 free relay teams touched the wall in fourth place for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions stay in Notre Dame to finish up the tri-meet today at 11 a.m.
