BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Big Ten regular season co-champions, Penn State men's soccer will face off against the team it shares the title with, Indiana, in a battle for the tournament title. The Nittany Lions and Hoosiers will face off on Sunday, Nov. 12 in Bloomington, Ind. Kickoff is set for noon and will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network.
Either Penn State or Indiana will walk away with the double this year winning a share of the regular season title and winning the tournament championship. The teams have identical Big Ten regular season records (4-2-2), sitting at 14 points each.

LAST TIME OUT
- Penn State and Ohio State endured a double overtime, penalty shootout thriller in the semifinals. After the score hung at 1-1 through regulation and two periods of overtime, the teams battled in a penalty shootout. Samson Kpardeh scored the goal during the first half.
- Peter Mangione made the first shot followed by a Buckeyes goal.
- Femi Awodesu scored the second and Kris Shakes made a stop between the pipes.
- After Freddie Bell's shot was saved, Ohio State made one.
- Matthew Henderson scored next followed by a Buckeyes goal.
- Ben Liscum notched the fourth goal and Shakes made a game-winning save to advance his team to the Championship and make the penalty shootout score 4-3.
NITTANY LIONS IN THE RANKS
- Penn State ranks first in the Big Ten in goals scored with 33, six more than the next highest number. It also ranks first in points with 94.
- Peter Mangione's ten goals is the most scored in the conference and sixth highest scored nationally.
- Kris Shakes ranks 12th in the nation in save percentage (.808) and first in the conference. Shakes' seven shutouts are good for first in the conference and 14th in the nation.
SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
- After getting off to a slow start in the early weeks of the 2023 campaign, the Hoosiers win over Penn State sparked a four-game winning streak including three conference games.
- Indiana defeated Rutgers 4-1 in the final game of the regular season to earn a share of the regular season title with Penn State to match it in points with 14.
- IU won a tight 2-1 match against Wisconsin in the quarterfinals and won a thriller of a semifinal game against Michigan. After leading by two goals, 3-1, the Wolverines came back to tie the score at 3-3. Indiana put a goal across while Michigan was down a man to earn a 4-3 win to send them to the Championship.
- Due to their win over Penn State in the regular season, Indiana will host the Championship game on Sunday.
PENN STATE –INDIANA SERIES
- Penn State is 1-2-2 in Big Ten Tournament Championship games played against Indiana and 4-11-5 in Big Ten Tournament games with seven of those matches going into overtime and five being decided in penalty shootouts. The Hoosiers have advanced twice and won the Championship twice in PKs and Penn State advanced once in a shootout.
- Indiana leads the all-time series 15-38-5 and has won the most recent two matches.
